Worthing Beach Barbados

Like a child playing hide-and-go-seek, Worthing Beach Barbados lies obscured alongside a strip of small apartments and guest houses on one of the busiest coastlines in Barbados, the South Coast.

Truth be told, this was one beach I had overlooked when I compiled the Top 15 List, but after considering the features and amenities of this great beach, I knew I had to revisit my choices.

Behind the walls of the quaint little hotels and guest houses, Highway 7 on Barbados’ South Coast was picking up steam.  The mid-day lunch crowd patiently waited by the food trucks as the owners dished out the afternoon specials: stewed turkey wings with rice & peas, hot Bajan soup, and macaroni pie with beef stew and veggies.  Only one hour to spare but it was well worth the wait.

Beach-side, the Accra Beach (Rockley Beach) crowd soaked up the sun and enjoyed a game of “dodge” with a few scattered beach vendors who were trying to sell everything from jewelry to scuba lessons.

The taxi cab drivers surveilled the area like hawks, looking for the mindless, shifting gaze of unsuspecting tourists who had lost direction.

Bronzed to perfection with traces of sand on their skin and hair, the young beach set navigated through streams of traffic to Chefette, the island’s leading fast food joint.

Yet, in the midst of all of the activity, Worthing Beach Barbados goes about its business, enticing beach-goers daily with its silky white sand, turquoise water, and peaceful atmosphere.
