Villas of Barbados..
Reinvent the way you stay

In case you were wondering about the villas of Barbados…

Barbados is well-known for its favorable weather conditions and warm, friendly people.  It is also known for its Platinum Coast, the West Coast, where celebrities frequent and often disappear into thin air.  Or so it would seem.  It’s no small wonder, therefore, that most of the luxury accommodations are found on this coast.

One type of luxury accommodation for a memorable Barbados vacation is the Barbados villa.  These villas are privately owned.  The owners occupy the premises at scheduled times during the year, while the properties are rented for the remainder of the year.

The word “villa” has caused many to recoil because of a common misconception - that it is un-affordable.

Yes, I admit.  Barbados knows a thing or two about luxury.  Enchanting beachfront villas deliciously wrapped in white, sandy beaches and regal palm trees; expansive private estates - some featuring an infinity pool, state-of-the-art home theater, and even a speedboat; or stunning units that face a world-class, championship golf course.  One property even has its very own French tree surgeon that tends to the trees every fall to ensure the best viewing possible.

Have you had a delightful experience at a Barbados Villa? Which is your favorite?

If this is what you’re looking for, finding this type of accommodation is not difficult. If it’s not what you’re looking for, then I’m here to give you good news.

On the flip side (and yes, there is a flip side), there are very affordable, private residences that are also referred to as villas. So you probably won't get your very own in-house chef or butler, but your experience will be an enjoyable one just the same.

Why Stay at a Villa?

There are several advantages to staying in a villa instead of a hotel or other accommodation. Let’s take a look at some of the differences.

  1. The level of privacy offered in a villa differs greatly from that of a hotel. There’s no need to put out the “Do not Disturb” sign, or, depending on how soundproof the hotel is, you won’t be hearing other guests as they walk down the hall. A villa offer total privacy – indoors and outdoors. The pool area is totally at your disposal, and for the most part, so is the beach.
  2. The kids can be super heros (or damsels in distress), fight the bad guys, and you won't have to worry about disturbing the other guests.

  3. There is more structure in the hotel environment than in a villa environment. For instance, in a hotel, meals are served only during scheduled hours. The Activities Center of most hotels also operates during scheduled hours, which gives you a limited time in which to book your island tour or other activity.
  4. The villa environment is generally unstructured. Yes, you’ll need to inform the chef of the time you’d like your roast leg of lamb with rosemary. To some degree, this comes with some structure and organization. Generally speaking, you set your own hours in a villa.
  5. The general atmosphere of being in a private setting, together with the included amenities (luxury or non-luxury), transforms your villa into a home away from home. This is a huge benefit when traveling with family and small children.

All in all, a Barbados villa is an excellent option for your Barbados vacation.
