Sandy Lane Beach Barbados, also known as Sandy Lane Bay, fronts the Sandy Lane Hotel on the Barbados West Coast.
This coast is known as the Platinum Coast because of the luxurious properties that reside there. Some of the properties are ocean-front and some are privately tucked away just a few minutes from the beach. Believe me… they make it for it. The properties are stunning. (Take a look at one of them here).
Sandy Lane is not a cute little path strewn with adorable ivy-clad cottages. This is one of Barbados’ most luxurious estates that includes not only a 112-room hotel (Sandy Lane Hotel), but also private rental villas, private residences, and a golf course, all of which span several acres from the West Coast beachfront to Highway 2 farther inland.
It comes as no surprise that the Sandy Lane Hotel – known for its luxury, first-class accommodation, and excellent service – would come accessorized with a stunning white sand beach and beautiful turquoise water.
SANDY LANE BEACH BARBADOS (SANDY LANE BAY)

easy access to Highway 1

With all of this elegance and flair (think: Waldorf Astoria in New York City, if you’re familiar), you’re probably thinking the beach is private. Good news… it is not.
All beaches in Barbados are public beaches so you can sprawl out to your heart’s content. Couple that with a good cocktail from the bar to ease you into that sweet spot and you’re good to go.
Note: In most cases, some amenities like beach chair and umbrella rentals are only available to the hotel’s guests so do not be surprised if you are not allowed access.
Sandy Lane Beach, or Sandy Lane Bay, is located on the West Coast of Barbados along Highway 1, or the main West Coast road. Highway 1 originates from Bridgetown and runs along the west coast of the island.

The nearest town, Holetown, is just 5 minutes away. Holetown is an historic district abuzz with local businesses, local and high-end shops (Limegrove Centre), good beach bars, and entertainment.
Less than a ten-minute drive north is Speightown (pronounced Spites-town) , a sleepy beach-side town with good local eateries. If you’re looking for a non-touristy old town where you can take a stroll along the beach, walk along the pier and enjoy spectacular sunsets, then this might be the one for you.
By Public Transportation:
Sandy Lane Beach Barbados is easy to reach by public transportation and by car. This is a heavily used route as all public buses and privately owned mini buses travel to and from Bridgetown on a daily basis along Highway 1.
From the capital Bridgetown - travel north along the Princess Alice Highway past Pelican Village (the arts and crafts village). Bear right past the traffic lights until you reach the first rotary at the Bridgetown Port. Follow the rotary and make a left at the intersection onto Spring Garden Highway. Turn left at the second rotary onto the main West Coast road or Highway 1. Continue north for about 20 minutes.
From the South Coast - go east to access the Errol Barrow Highway. Follow to Highway 2A and exit left at the Lawrence Johnson rotary. Travel west for half mile to Highway 1 and continue north.
Try visiting each coast if you can when in Barbados. That being said, if your time is limited and you had to pick just one, the West Coast is the way to go. It is known for its beautiful beaches and magnificent properties.
Sandy Lane Beach Barbados is one of the best beaches on the West Coast and is well worth the time. Here's an extra bonus: you might just run into a few celebrities.
