Formerly known as Tamarind Cove, this hotel has been around for a long time and despite its longevity, it remains one of the top hotels for the best family beach vacations in Barbados.

Being so close to the water is great (from the visitor’s standpoint), but this calls for tremendous up-keep.  Salt water erosion can wreak havoc on everything, including appliances.

That said, I am extremely thrilled with the management’s continued efforts to maintain the high standards of excellence, not only in the hotel’s maintenance and upgrades but also in the customer service areas.

Location

The hotel lies at the bottom of Holders Hill in the area known as Paynes Bay on the West Coast of Barbados.

Paynes Bay is an area with a wide array of hotels, guest houses, fine and casual restaurants, and great beaches.   What I love about this area is that you can practically walk to everything.

It is also minutes away from First and Second Streets in Holetown where music and entertainment come alive most nights and on weekends.

Tamarind’s sister property, The House, lies right next door.  Daphne’s restaurant serves as the main artery that connects the two.

Features

Tamarind salutes you with the vibrant colors of the Barbados sunset  - deep red, orange and gold tones.  The rooms are spread throughout the property in two-story blocks.

The main reception area provides direct access to the beach, pool and restaurant.

Several clues give away the hotel’s theme, from the beckoning hammocks and wicker chairs spread out on the lawn amidst the regal coconut trees to the peaceful indoor pool lying adjacent to the spa.

Then, there’s the Rilaks Deck.

Oh, yes.. the theme here is definitely relaxation.  Not a bad theme when you’re looking for the best family beach vacations.
