Alleyne’s Bay Barbados (pronounced Allin's Bay) took me by surprise one hot July day. My heat rash was in overdrive and I was miserable. I pulled off the main road looking for a thirst quencher and some cold, water-logged napkins for my neck.
As I walked into the Lone Star Hotel’s reception area, the AC and fans greeted me with open arms and I came to a screeching halt.
Where the heck was I?
Wait a minute…
Standing at the top of the stairs, my gaze immediately shifted to one of the most beautiful beaches I had ever seen. It was peaceful, to say the least, and as I watched a handful of kids frolicking in the water, I realized that I had just stumbled upon another fabulous family-friendly beach in Barbados that I just had to share with you.
Features: White sand beach with calm water – best for swimming, snorkeling, sailing | easy access to Highway 1
Amenities: Lone Star Hotel & Restaurant (luxury boutique hotel) | Santi Beach bar & Grill |independent operators offer water sports | chair & umbrella rentals available
I was immediately drawn to it. Alleyne’s Bay Barbados was indeed a sliver of paradise.
I had unknowingly whizzed past this beautiful beach so many times and had never once paid attention to what lay behind the decorative interior walls of the Lone Star Hotel, until now. This was not what I had expected. Truth be told, I didn’t know what to expect. Here’s why.
The beach fronts the Lone Star Hotel & Restaurant, a gas station/garage that was converted to a luxury boutique hotel. The façade of this converted gas station/garage turned luxury boutique hotel is not impressive. There is no on-site parking. Parking is available across the street. It is surrounded by residential homes, a fish market, and small local shops. Nothing fancy about the area.. just another access point to Alleyne’s Bay.

Alleyne’s Bay Barbados is located in Mount Standfast on the island’s West Coast in the parish of St James. The beach lies along Highway 1 or the main coast road. It can be quite busy on this road, especially in Holetown, but the farther north you go, the quieter it gets. This area is quiet and perfect for families traveling with kids.
This white sand beach is approximately 10 minutes from Speightstown (north) and about 5 minutes from Holetown (south). It is about 25 minutes away from the capital Bridgetown, and 40 minutes away from Barbados’ main airport, Grantley Adams International.
Right next door sits Santi Beach Bar & Grill, dubbed “one of the sexiest West Coast beach bars” in Barbados. This is a happening spot where you will find lots of local Bajans looking to hang out, enjoy good food, drinks, and music. This is the second access point to Alleyne’s Bay Barbados.
